TROLL is a fantasy roleplaying game where players take on the roles of adventurers: powerful individuals who risk life and limb for renown, wealth, and the safety of society.
Our Design Philosophy
When designing TROLL, we had these basic principles in mind:
- TROLL should be fun, balanced, and easy to understand.
- All essential tools to play should be readily available.
- The community should get a voice in the game’s development.

The TROLL Discord channel is where our community can discuss the game and share their experiences. We use these discussions as platforms for making changes.
What is a ttrpg?
A tabletop role-playing game, for all practical purposes, is a game of make-believe with rules. Players create unique characters to play as adventurers – in TROLL’s case, in a “sword and sorcery” world of knights and magic.
You can think of adventurers like you would characters in a book or movie. Each character is unique, participating in and moving the story along in their own way.
Your character will do the same thing, but with one critical difference: you’re the one making the story, and you’re doing it while playing a game with your friends!
A Word on AI
Generative AI has quickly become a contentious topic, especially within creative spheres. For the sake of transparency, we’d like to inform you of our current and future usage of the service.
First, we have used generative AI for research, brainstorming, and assistance with creative writing. In short, generative AI has been used as a tool and aid, without letting it control or overshadow our own creative vision. We plan to continue its use in this fashion.
Second, we have used generative AI to create works of art for use on our website and other platforms where the game will be hosted. We know many in the TTRPG community and beyond frown upon this, but at this point there is simply no way around it. We hope that one day we can afford proper artists, but until then we will continue using AI services.
